Focused Hearings
What is a focused hearing?
In a focus hearing, a judge will make decisions about how evidence will be presented as well as the time allowed to present it. The judge may order that all or most of your witnesses present their evidence by affidavit. Limits may be placed on oral evidence of your witnesses and time for cross-examination.
What is the goal of a focused hearing?
The goal is to save time and money while keeping the trial fair.
When will a focused hearing happen?
It will happen after the trial management conference occurs. You will be given an opportunity at the trial management conference to discuss your ideas about how the focused hearing should be conducted.
