Confirmation of Assignment

When do you file a confirmation of assignment?
If you have a concern that your support order may have been assigned, you can file a confirmation of assignment form to find out if it was. In other words, any person commencing a court proceeding to change the terms of their support order can complete a Confirmation of Assignment form to obtain information about whether their support order is assigned.
To Whom will the ministry provide information?
The ministry will only provide information to the support payor, the support recipient or his/her lawyer.
Who do you send the form to?
When the form is completed, it must be sent to the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS), Confirmation of Assignment Unit.
Why would the government have a legal interest?
If the parent ever received social assistance, they may have “assigned” their support interest to the government body that provides social assistance.
What happens if your order is assigned?
You will be told where to send a copy of your application to vary the order so the assignee stays informed.
